Molecular Pathology & Diagnostics
To continue to support clinical discovery, we are creating an integrated pipeline for molecular pathology that includes biomarker discovery, functional validation, diagnostic assay development, evaluation of clinical utility and early adoption in the area of precision medicine of solid tumours and haematological malignancies.
Our ultimate goal is to develop new and innovative approaches and tools to advance molecular diagnostics for improved clinical decision-making. This activity is co-ordinated through a multidisciplinary working group with expertise that stretches from fundamental research in chemistry, biology, math and computer science through to clinical care teams.
The movement of this research toward the clinic is supported by the Oxford Molecular Diagnostics Centre which pioneered the 52-gene panel for clinical diagnostics, introducing next generation DNA sequencing into NHS clinical care.
