Early Phase Trials Delivery
The Early Phase Trials Unit is an integral part of the Centre; delivering high quality research to support the translation of Oxford-led science into the clinic.
The unit supports around 40 cancer clinical trials for patients with both solid tumours and haematological malignancies, recruiting on average 120 patients per year. Facilities include a dedicated twelve bed unit and sample handling laboratory built with funding from CRUK, and staffed exclusively by a research team supported through the Centre.
The unit is embedded within the Cancer and Haematology Centre at the Churchill Hospital and has access to over 6000 new cancer patients a year. The trial portfolio spans novel drugs, new combinations, new radiotherapy and imaging techniques predominantly working across phases 0, 1, and 2 trials.
