I’m an ambassador at the Marlow Higginson parkrun for 5KYourWay Move Against Cancer a group that helps people get involved with parkrun while being treated for and recovering from cancer.
During my treatment I continued running as much as I was able; as well as helping my CV and respiratory fitness prior to surgery it was an important factor in maintaining my mental well-being. Since then it has been one of a number of things I have used to challenge myself with in order to restore a sense of normality.
Over my career, first in chemistry then IT, I have acquired a lot of experience in communicating complex issues. Since retirement from that I have become qualified as a teacher of English as a foreign language and spend some of my time teaching in refugee projects in Greece.
